Shortly before Donald Trump’s anticipated court appearance in Manhattan to face 34 felony charges related to election interference and hush money payments to Stormy Daniels, the hosts of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” aired a new advertisement illustrating how his legal troubles would render him unemployable.
The ad, crafted by the Republican Voters Against Trump PAC, features an actor portraying a job seeker confessing to potential employers his current predicament: 88 felony charges, allegations of government secrets theft, and queries about hiring someone accused of sexual assault. In each scenario, the employers reject him, citing impending background checks.
The ad’s punchline emphasizes that if Trump’s legal baggage disqualifies him from employment at a local mall, it certainly disqualifies him from holding the presidency of the United States.
After airing the ad, MSNBC hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski interviewed RVAT.org Executive Director Sarah Longwell. She highlighted the ad’s message, emphasizing that Trump’s extensive legal entanglements make him unfit for office, drawing parallels between his inability to secure even menial jobs and his candidacy for the presidency.
Longwell stressed the alarming normalization of Trump’s behavior and the accumulation of disqualifying actions and revelations since leaving office.
