A Pennsylvania man who showed up armed at a peaceful protest in West Chester didn’t just bring loaded guns—he also had 13 nail-filled bombs at home, police say.
Kevin Joseph Krebs, 31, of Malvern, was arrested Saturday, June 14, near the “No Kings” protest after concerned bystanders alerted police that he was concealing a weapon under his coat. Officers say he eventually admitted he was carrying a loaded Sig Sauer P320 pistol.
But that was just the start. According to the affidavit, Krebs also had: Three loaded handgun magazines, six loaded assault rifle magazines, a bayonet knife, pepper spray, a pocket knife, gloves, and a ski mask, Philly Magazine reports.
Krebs had no license to carry. Chester County Sheriff’s Office confirmed he wasn’t permitted. He was arrested on the spot without a struggle.
His vehicle, parked nearby, contained even more gear: an AR-15 style rifle, a gas mask, night vision goggles, and a light bar similar to those used by police vehicles.
Krebs told investigators he had come to protest peacefully but wanted to protect himself “because of the potential for violence and danger.”
Then the search of his Malvern home changed everything.
According to the Chester County District Attorney’s Office, investigators first found one pipe bomb with a timer and a circuit board—stuffed with nails and screws. That number quickly grew. “Thirteen improvised explosive devices” were recovered, all packed with nails, officials say.
Police also found bomb-making chemicals, body armor, and hand-drawn diagrams explaining how grenades work.
Krebs had been allowed to stay at his parents’ home in West Chester after posting bail for the gun charge. When investigators searched that property, they found a police radio that belonged to Krebs. They also discovered more tactical equipment in his car.
A law enforcement source told the press: “It’s unclear at this moment exactly what his motives were or what he had planned. But we do feel that we could be looking at a terrorism-type situation here.”
Krebs, who has described himself as “ultra MAGA,” is now being held without bail on 13 felony counts of possessing weapons of mass destruction, plus charges for risking a catastrophe, and the original gun charge.
His attorney, Michael DiCindio, was unavailable for comment.
Krebs was arraigned Sunday, June 15, and initially released on $250,000 bail. That changed once the bombs were discovered.
His preliminary hearing is set for Tuesday, July 15, before Judge Marian T. Vito.
Court records also show Krebs has a past: he pleaded guilty to driving an unregistered vehicle and to illegally taking wildlife in separate cases in Chester and Delaware counties.
The investigation is ongoing, with assistance from the FBI and Chester County Sheriff’s Office.
