Donald Trump has decided to include former Jeffrey Epstein lawyer Alan Dershowitz in his legal team during the impeachment trial. Not only is Dershowitz on his legal team, but he will be leading it.
According to Axios’s Jonathan Swan, many White House aides believed that making Dershowitz the face of Trump’s impeachment defense team would spark controversy due to his work on behalf of Epstein, an accused child sex trafficker and longtime friend of Trump’s.
But according to one source who spoke to Swan, “Trump thinks Dershowitz is magnificent on TV,” and that’s why he wanted him on his team.
Trump also picked former Whitewater special prosecutor Ken Starr and attorney Robert Ray to handle his defense at next week’s Senate impeachment trial.
All three men have appeared frequently on Fox News and have claimed that Trump’s case does not rise to the level of impeachment.
Trump’s impeachment trial is scheduled to being this coming Tuesday.
