President Donald Trump lost his temper on Air Force One Sunday after a Wall Street Journal reporter asked a routine question about his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The reporter was asking about Trump’s push to mediate peace between Russia and Ukraine. But instead of answering, Trump demanded to know what outlet the reporter worked for.
When the journalist said The Wall Street Journal, Trump snapped.
“That’s what I thought,” he said. “Boy, you people treat us so badly. Wall Street Journal has truly gone to hell. Go ahead, yeah. Rotten newspaper. You hear me? What I said? It’s a rotten newspaper.”
He then let the reporter start the question—but cut him off, refusing to answer.
“I wouldn’t tell The Wall Street Journal because it’d be wasting my time,” Trump said. “There are talks, but I don’t want to talk to The Wall Street Journal. Look, Wall Street Journal is China-oriented, and they’re really bad for this country.”
Trump then moved on, taking a question from another reporter instead.
This latest blow-up adds to the growing rift between Trump and the Murdoch-owned Wall Street Journal. The conservative paper has criticized Trump recently, slamming his trade agenda and calling his tariff policies “The Dumbest Trade War in History.”
