In a fiery, grievance-laden tirade riddled with falsehoods, former President Donald Trump vehemently insisted he did nothing wrong following his historic conviction on all 34 counts of falsifying business records connected to a 2016 hush money payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
On Thursday, a New York jury of seven men and six women delivered the stunning verdict after two days of intense deliberation. Trump, in his typical defiant style, reacted by blaming “sick people” for the outcome, further igniting his rhetoric against his perceived adversaries.
On Friday, May 31, Trump held what was billed as a press conference to address the conviction. However, it quickly devolved into a chaotic monologue filled with baseless claims on a range of topics, including the Manhattan trial, immigration, and tax policy. Instead of a measured response, Trump unleashed a torrent of unverified assertions and personal attacks.
Throughout his speech, Trump launched scathing attacks on his political opponents and the current administration, alleging that the conviction was a politically motivated act.
“We have a president and a group of fascists that don’t want to do anything about it. He could stop it. But he’s not; they’re destroying our country,” Trump ranted. He further alleged, “This was done by the Biden administration in order to wound, to hurt an opponent. A political opponent and I think it’s just a disgrace, and we’ll keep fighting, we’ll fight till the end, and we’ll win because our country has gone to hell.”
Reiterating his earlier accusations, Trump insisted that the country is “being rigged right now,” painting a dire picture of a “nation in decline.” He elaborated, “We have a country that’s in big trouble, but this was a rigged decision right from day one with a conflicted judge who should have never been allowed to try this case. Never. And we will fight for our constitution.”
Defending his actions, Trump specifically addressed the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) with Stormy Daniels, arguing, “They weren’t crimes, nor is paying money under an NDA. So we have an NDA, non-disclosure agreement. It’s a big deal. A non-disclosure agreement. Totally honorable, totally good. Totally accepted. Everybody has them.”
Trump’s speech was a dramatic blend of grievances and unsubstantiated claims, aiming to portray himself as the victim of a grand political conspiracy while defending his actions as lawful and customary.

Trump: We have an nda. It's a big deal. Totally honorable. Totally good. Totally accepted. Everybody has them. Every company has Ndas. The press called it slush fund and all sorts of other things. Hush money. It's not hush money. It's called a non-disclosure agreement. pic.twitter.com/mhek5bb634

In a rambling press conference after being convicted of 34 felonies, Trump repeats the racist lie that “Congo, Africa just released a lot of people — a lot of people — from their prisons and jails and brought ’em into the United States of America.” pic.twitter.com/8bN4dUmEVW
