President Donald Trump erupted in anger during a meeting with El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele on Monday, repeatedly attacking CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins and launching into another tirade against the network.

“Let’s hear the question from this very low rated anchor at CNN,” Trump sneered, dismissing Collins during the Oval Office exchange.

The outburst came after Collins pressed the president on the case of a Maryland man wrongfully deported to El Salvador. Trump’s frustration grew as Collins asked why he hadn’t done more to bring the man back.

“How long do we have to answer this question from you?” Trump snapped, cutting her off mid-question. “Why don’t you just say, isn’t it wonderful that we’re keeping criminals out of our country? Why can’t you just say that?”

Trump then went on to attack Collins personally: “Why do you go over and over, that’s why no one watches you anymore, you have no credibility.” He waved her off and moved on to another reporter.

Earlier, President Bukele had egged Trump on, asking why the media wasn’t covering the alleged 99% drop in border crossings. That set Trump off on his usual rant against “fake news,” specifically targeting CNN.

“CNN over here doesn’t want to put them out because they don’t like putting out good numbers,” Trump fumed. “Because I think they hate our country, actually.”

Later, CNN anchor Dana Bash hit back during her broadcast. “I just want to say, for the record, since we heard President Trump say in the Oval Office that CNN hates our country, CNN does not hate our country,” Bash said. “That should go without saying. I’ve been here for 32 years.”

Bash added, “I see a rhetorical device in him saying such a thing.”

Trump has made attacking the media a key part of his political style, with Collins, who joined CNN in 2017, often becoming a target. But despite his insults, Collins remains unfazed, calling herself a “joyful warrior” in a recent Vanity Fair interview.
