Donald Trump erupted in fury after Liz Cheney unleashed a scathing jab at him during a Kamala Harris campaign rally on Thursday, appearing to hurt his feelings in the process.
In a fiery post on Truth Social, Trump lashed out at the former Republican congresswoman, highlighting Cheney’s electoral defeat.
“Liz Cheney lost her Congressional Seat by the largest margin in the history of Congress for a sitting Representative,” he fumed. “The people of Wyoming are really smart! She is a low IQ War Hawk that, as a member of the J6 Unselect Committee of Political Hacks and Thugs, ILLEGALLY DESTROYED & DELETED all documents, information, and evidence.”
Cheney’s remarks, which included the biting line, “I was a Republican even before Donald Trump started spray-tanning,” clearly struck a nerve. She went on to deliver a brutal critique of Trump’s actions leading up to January 6.
“Donald Trump was willing to sacrifice our Capitol, to allow law enforcement officers to be beaten and brutalized in his name, and to violate the law and the Constitution in order to seize power for himself. I don’t care if you are a Democrat or a Republican or an independent. That is depravity, and we must never become numb to it.”
Trump also took aim at her father, Dick Cheney, who has endorsed Harris. He accused the former vice president of being the architect of disastrous military interventions in the Middle East, asking rhetorically, “for what? NOTHING!”
In his vitriolic response, Trump branded the Cheneys as “two fools” the Republican Party has cast aside, labeling them a “pathetic couple” suffering from what he termed Trump Derangement Syndrome.

As the November election looms, Democrats are intensifying efforts to reach disenchanted Republican voters, crafting strategies that include new ads in battleground states featuring traditional GOP supporters backing Harris. With Cheney’s biting critique and Trump’s explosive response, it’s clear that the political battlefield is heating up, revealing deep fractures within the GOP as the election approaches.
