On Wednesday, MAGA activist Laura Loomer stormed into the Oval Office, demanding that President Donald Trump fire his national security team. The following morning, Trump complied, removing several members of the National Security Council (NSC) as if he had followed her orders.
According to the New York Times, ‘Loomer walked into the White House with a sheaf of papers, which amounted to a mass of opposition research attacking the character and loyalty of numerous N.S.C. officials, two of the people said. She proceeded to excoriate them in front of their boss, including the national security adviser Michael Waltz, who was also in the meeting.”
Loomer’s claims included attacks on officials like Alex Wong, the deputy national security adviser, and Waltz himself, who had recently come under fire after a security mishap involving a military strike in Yemen.
On Thursday, Axios confirmed that several members of the NSC had been fired. Sources said the moves were seen as a response to Loomer’s criticism.
Loomer was furious that certain “neocons” with hawkish foreign policy views had slipped through the vetting process and secured positions within the Trump administration.
This wasn’t the first time Loomer had sparked controversy. Known for her extreme views, she’s made headlines for celebrating the deaths of migrants in the Mediterranean, promoting 9/11 conspiracy theories, and openly identifying as a White nationalist. Trump had already faced backlash for traveling with Loomer during the 2020 campaign, and she had recently voiced frustration over not being granted a role in the White House press room.
Additionally, Loomer has been the subject of rumors about a secret affair with Trump, especially after sharing intimate photos with him during the 2024 campaign.

These firings mark a significant shake-up in the administration’s national security team following Loomer’s explosive meeting with the president.
