Republicans are sounding the drums of war over what they called “politically motivated” criminal investigations into Donald Trump’s actions.
During an appearance on Fox News, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) issued a dire warning that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D) arresting former President Trump would “blow up our country.”
“It’s going to blow up our country, and this is a bunch of B.S.,” the GOP ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee said on “Fox & Friends” Tuesday morning.
“You’ve had the prosecutor before Bragg, [Cyrus] Vance [Jr.], look at the case and pass on it. You had the U.S. attorney in New York say ‘I’m not going to do it federally,’” Graham said before slamming Bragg as a “George Soros-backed prosecutor” and claiming that he is under political pressure to prosecute Trump over the allegation.
“There was an intervening cause other than Trump running,” Graham said, explaining why he thinks Bragg is now poised to bring charges against Trump. “One of the guys in the DA’s office wrote a book very critical of Vance. ‘You should have prosecuted Trump, you let him off.’ And Bragg feels that pressure.”
“The guy is yielding to the political pressure generated by the former prosecutor,” Graham added. “This is a case without merit, in my view.“
“Donald Trump will be the only person in the history of New York prosecuted under this theory,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Trump’s lawyer Joe Tacopina warned that it will be “an all-out war” if Trump is indicted.
“They can do what they want,” Tacopina said of the possible indictment in an interview with former Trump adviser Kimberly Guilfoyle on Monday. “At that point, this is an all-out war.”
“He’ll be there loud and proud, and there’s nobody that’s gonna make him cower,” Tacopina told Guilfoyle, who is also the fiancee of the former president’s oldest son Donald Trump Jr.
