President Donald Trump launched a fierce attack on CNN and its anchor Kaitlan Collins during a Thursday Oval Office briefing. The exchange turned heated as Collins pressed Trump about his views on Russia’s war in Ukraine, and he didn’t hold back in his criticism.

The tension started when Collins asked Trump if he believed Russian President Vladimir Putin genuinely wanted peace in Ukraine. Trump responded confidently: “Yeah, I do. I believe he wants peace. I believe that President Putin – when I spoke to him yesterday, I mean, I know him very well – yeah, I think he was peace. I think he would tell me if he didn’t, I think he’d like to see peace.”

But things quickly escalated when Collins followed up, asking, “Do you trust President Putin?”

Trump didn’t hesitate to shift the blame for the war to President Joe Biden, then launched into a full-on attack on Collins and CNN.

“You lost millions of people when they knocked down those cities,” Trump said. “They’re lying down just in ashes and all crumbled up concrete. It looks like a world-class demolition site. And this should have been done by Biden years ago. This should have never been allowed to happen. I know [Biden is] a friend of yours. He’s a friend of CNN. That’s why nobody watches CNN anymore. Because they have no credibility.”

Collins tried to respond, but Trump quickly moved on to another reporter, shutting her down mid-sentence.

Trump had also mentioned the previous day that he had spoken with Putin, claiming Russia was interested in negotiating a peace deal to end the war in Ukraine.
