A Republican congressman from Texas says it may be time for the U.S. to go to war with Iran — and he’s calling on Donald Trump to make it happen, citing the Bible as his reason.
Rep. Roger Williams (R-TX) pushed back hard against Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA), who has been trying to stop Trump from launching a military strike on Iran without getting permission from Congress. Williams didn’t hold back — he backed Trump and said the U.S. might need to go all the way.
“I think President Trump is right,” Williams said during an appearance on Fox Business. “He’s got us to a point where these guys need to take a hard look at their selves and surrender, and if they don’t surrender it may be that we have to end it.”
Williams made it clear he stands firmly with Israel and views Iran as a serious threat. “We got the best friend we got in Israel, they’re doing a fantastic job, they’re controlling the airspace now, so we just need to see,” he said.
Trump has pushed for a full Iranian surrender and has urged Israel to take out Iran’s nuclear program without help from the U.S. But Williams suggested that might not be enough — and American troops could still be needed.
“Look, it’s biblical, okay,” Williams said. “I’m one of those – it’s biblical. We support Israel. Israel is our friend. We need to be with them, and Sen. Kaine, I just would want to know what side he is really on.”
