Donald Trump Jr. sparked a fierce backlash on Monday after trying to make money off the tragic death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who was killed after actor Baldwin accidentally fired a prop gun on a movie set last week.
Trump Jr. thought it was a good idea to monetize the incident and started selling T-shirts on his website that mock the fatal shooting with the tagline “guns don’t kill people, Alec Baldwin kills people.” The shirts retail for $27.99.
Since the fatal shooting, Trump Jr. began sharing memes of Baldwin on his Instagram page. On Sonday, he shared a meme that said, “Let’s all watch Alec Baldwin blame the gun” with the caption, “It’s only a matter of time.”
Baldwin released a statement soon after the incident, saying his “heart is broken” at the tragic incident and that he is fully cooperating with police officials.
According to multiple reports, Baldwin was practicing drawing his gun across his body and pointing it at the camera when it went off, killing cinematographer Hutchins, according to an affidavit released on Sunday.
As expected, social media users had to respond:
Alec Baldwin please sue Trump jr & the t-shirt company printing vile t-shits with your name without permission and basically a form of harrassment and just plain wrong.
