During Wednesday’s edition of CBS’s “The Late Show,” host Stephen Colbert celebrated a federal judge’s ruling denying former President Donald Trump’s motion to keep key documents secret from the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Colbert called the Judge’s decision “the worst denial for the former president since any time he tried to hold his wife’s hand.”

The Late Show host also delivered a brutal fact check to the claim made by Trump’s lawyers that the former president had “a residual right to claim executive privilege.”

“You don’t get to keep any part of a job you lost,” Colbert said. “That’s why you didn’t see Christian Bale playing Dick Cheney in a Batman suit.”
