For 8 consecutive days, Russia has been indiscriminately bombing Ukraine’s suburbs with missiles hitting apartment buildings, schools and an orphanage, killing several children. Now, Russian moms and their children are taking the streets of Moscow to protest. And the response from Russian authorities is beyond appalling.

Russian police arrested five children, ages 7 to 11, who were carrying flowers and handmade signs that read “нет войне” — No to War — to Ukraine’s embassy in Moscow. Police also detained the kids and parents, according to NPR.

Seven-year-old David and Sofia, 9 y.o. Matvey, 11 y.o. Gosha and Liza spent this night behind bars in Moscow for their ‘NO TO WAR’ posters, NPR reported.

Rusian police shouted at the parents, threatening that the “brave moms” would lose their parental rights, according to Alexandra Arkhipova, who posted photos and a video of the ordeal on her Facebook page.

The case got the attention of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, who shared images of the children and said it was another sign of the toll Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war against Ukraine is taking on children.

Referring to Putin as he discussed the kids being detained in Moscow, Kuleba said, “This is how scared the man is.”
