On Monday, former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social with a fiery tirade on the morning of his groundbreaking criminal hush money trial, blasting the charges against him and alleging political bias from his opponents.
Accused of 34 felony counts related to concealing payments to Stormy Daniels, Trump insists the case is a ploy by the “Radical Left Democrats” to hinder his potential presidential campaign against Joe Biden.
On his social media platform, Trump demanded the dismissal of what he dubbed the “Biden Manhattan Witch Hunt Case,” citing statute of limitations and alleging bias from the presiding judge.
“As virtually every legal scholar has powerfully stated, the Biden Manhattan Witch Hunt Case is, among other things, BARRED by the Statute of Limitations. This ‘trial’ should be ended by the highly conflicted presiding Judge,” Trump ranted on truth Social.
He further accused Democrats of interference in the 2024 election, lamenting the resources spent on legal battles instead of campaigning against “Crooked Joe Biden.”
The wrote: “The Radical Left Democrats are already cheating on the 2024 Presidential Election by bringing, or helping to bring, all of these bogus lawsuits against me, thereby forcing me to sit in courthouses, and spend money that could be used for campaigning, instead of being out in the field knocking Crooked Joe Biden, the WORST President in the History of the United States. Election Interference!”
In a third post, he added: “Why didn’t they bring this totally discredited lawsuit 7 years ago??? Election Interference!”
Despite a gag order imposed by Judge Juan Merchan for his social media attacks, Trump expressed frustration, claiming his voice was being stifled in an unconstitutional manner.
“I want my VOICE back. This Crooked Judge has GAGGED me. Unconstitutional! The other side can talk about me, but I am not allowed to talk about them! Rigged Trial!”
The trial may feature prominent figures like Stormy Daniels, Karen McDougal, Michael Cohen, and others as witnesses.
Facing the possibility of more than a decade in prison if found guilty, Trump’s sentencing could be influenced by factors such as his lack of prior criminal record and the non-violent nature of the offenses.
