Missouri’s Republican Governor Mike Parson and his wife tested positive for COVID-19 this week, according to his office.
“At this time, the Governor feels healthy and is displaying no symptoms, and the First Lady has mild symptoms,” said the governor’s office in a statement.
Parson, who has been a prominent defender of Donald Trump, has also been outspoken about people being required to wear masks in closed areas.
“I am not anti-mask, what I am is anti-mandates,” he said in July.
Parson also advocated for schools to reopen, saying that children getting infected isn’t a big deal and they can “just get over it.”
