Police and emergency personnel responded to the Houston home of Sen. Ted Cruz Tuesday night after receiving a call of a teenage girl injured with “self-inflicted” stab wounds.
Citing Houston police, local station ABC13 reported that a 14-year-old girl suffered self-inflicted cuts on the arms at the Republican’s residence in the River Oaks neighborhood and was rushed to the hospital.
Police were in the front yard of Cruz’s home when ABC13 arrived.
The Republican lawmaker has two daughters, ages 14 and 11. But police could not confirm if the girl was a member of Cruz’s family.
A spokesperson for Cruz requested privacy for his daughter when reached for comment by the station.
The teen is expected to be OK, the report states.
