On Wednesday, the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th, 2021, insurrection issued a subpoena for former Trump trade adviser Peter Navarro, and he is losing his bearings over it.
In a statement released shortly after the committee announced it was subpoenaing him, Navarro lashed out at the Jan 6 Panel, calling the House investigators “domestic terrorists” and invoking Donald Trump’s “executive privilege” as an excuse for not cooperating.
“As the domestic terrorists running the January 6 partisan witch hunt are well aware, President Trump has invoked Executive Privilege; and it is not my privilege to waive,” Navarro said. “They should negotiate any waiver of the privilege with the president and his attorneys directly, not through me.”
Navarro also blamed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for the attack, accusing her of failing to deter Trump’s violent supporters from storming the Capitol.
