As Ukraine continues to endure the brutal war waged by Russia, Mary Trump, the niece of former President Donald Trump, has issued a stark warning about the future of the conflict under her uncle’s leadership. In a recent op-ed, Mary Trump, a trained psychologist, raised alarm over the potential consequences for Ukraine as Donald Trump, whom she calls “Putin’s puppet,” returns to the White House.
“Of all the unthinkable scenarios we’ve been forced to consider since Donald won the election on November 5th, is the possibility that all of this will have been for naught,” Mary Trump wrote. She expressed concern that the fate of Ukraine, as well as that of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, could rest in the hands of a man who she believes is deeply influenced by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Mary Trump specifically criticized her uncle for his past actions and ties to Putin, stating, “After all, the fate of Ukraine and Zelenskyy may rest with Donald Trump, Putin’s puppet, a man who is enamored of and beholden to the very autocrat who wants to destroy our ally.”
She also highlighted the involvement of Elon Musk, a Trump ally, who has been in contact with both Putin and Zelenskyy. Musk has also publicly mocked Zelenskyy, which Mary Trump cited as a troubling sign of how support for Ukraine might falter under Trump’s influence.
“As unthinkable as it may be, we must contemplate how the world will react if, as seems likely, Donald withdraws the United States’ support from Ukraine in order to appease Vladimir Putin, his puppet-master—and our enemy,” she wrote. “What will happen to Ukraine and Zelenskyy when one of their staunchest allies betrays them?”
Mary Trump acknowledged the immense struggles Ukraine has faced but reminded readers of their resilience, recalling the defiant words of the Ukrainian military: “Russian warship, go f— yourself.” Despite the challenges, Ukraine has remained steadfast, she noted, but warned that the situation could worsen if Trump were to further align with Putin.
“It’s going to get so much worse under the Trump administration,” Mary Trump concluded, urging continued support for Ukraine. “We must continue to support Ukraine in whatever way we can.”
She finished with a personal, blunt statement: “And we can start by saying to my uncle, ‘Go f— yourself.’”
