Marjorie Taylor Greene Ridiculed For Claiming ‘Ivermectin’ Won ‘Nobel Peace Prize’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) on Thursday triggered an avalanche of ridicule after she lashed out at the Biden administration for not recommending horse dewormer drug ivermectin as a treatment for COVID-19, claiming that the drug “won a Nobel Peace Prize.”

During an appearance on “Real America’s Voice,” Greene touted ivermectin’s purported effectiveness against COVID-19 and slammed Dr. Anthony Fauci for not prescribing the drug even it “won a Nobel Peace Prize.”

Of course, ivermectin did not win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Rather, scientists William C. Campbell and Satoshi Omura won the 2015 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their work showing that ivermectin can be effective in treating against infections caused by roundworm parasites in horses.

None of this means that the drug is effective at treating the novel coronavirus, however.

Greene went on to rail at government officials for not pushing this unproven treatment.

“It is deeply irresponsible for the Biden administration, the CDC, Dr. Fauci, and any of these doctors to be advising people to not prescribe it,” she said.
