A supporter of former President Trump was fatally shot by FBI agents during a raid in Utah on Wednesday morning. The raid was carried out by FBI agents in connection with threats of assassination against President Biden and other prominent Democrats, including Vice President Kamala Harris and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
The incident took place in Provo, Utah, at approximately 6:15 a.m. when FBI agents attempted to execute arrest and search warrants at a residence, according to the FBI office in Salt Lake City.
As detailed in the felony complaint lodged at the US District Court in Utah, the individual at the center of the investigation leading to the raid was identified as 75-year-old Craig Robertson.
In his social media posts, Robertson referred to himself as a “MAGA TRUMPER.” He was facing charges related to interstate threats, threats against the president, and influencing, impeding, and retaliating against federal law enforcement officers through threats.
The complaint, which spanned 39 pages, included multiple Facebook posts made by Robertson that contained unhinged threats to assassinate President Biden and other high-ranking Democrats such as Harris, Bragg, New York Attorney General Letitia James, US Attorney General Merrick Garland, and California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
In a recent status update, Robertson hinted at plans to attempt an attack on President Biden during his upcoming visit to Utah. He wrote, “I hear Biden is coming to Utah.” He added: “Digging out my old ghille suit and cleaning the dust off the M24 sniper rifle. Welcome, Buffoon-in-chief!”
The complaint filed by an FBI agent seeking a warrant for Robertson’s arrest stated that the suspect’s social media post constituted a “knowing and willful true threat to kill or cause injury to President Biden.”
A spokesperson from the agency confirmed that an individual had been fatally shot but did not provide further details about the circumstances of the “agent-involved shooting.” The FBI statement emphasized their serious approach to all shooting incidents involving their agents or task force members and stated that the incident is being reviewed by the FBI’s Inspection Division in accordance with their policy.
