MSNBC anchor Lawrence O’Donnell delivered a brutal assessment of Donald Trump’s lawyer, Alina Habba, following her stunning admission in court during writer E. Jean Carroll’s second civil trial against the former president.
“I don’t know how to try this case, your honor,” Habba openly admitted, following the dismissal of pretrial objections by the Trump legal team.
O’Donnell didn’t hold back his astonishment at the shocking admission, vividly painting the absurdity of a paid attorney openly declaring incompetence. The courtroom drama unfolded against the backdrop of Carroll’s relentless pursuit of justice, this time in a defamation case centered on Trump’s disparaging remarks in 2019.
“Imagine sitting in a courtroom and hearing the lawyer who you are paying say, ‘I don’t know how to try this case, your honor,’” the “Last Word” host said before calling Habba “the worst Trump lawyer to appear in court so far.”
The saga, which began with a $5 million jury award to Carroll in a prior sexual abuse and defamation case against Trump, has now morphed into a new chapter. The trial’s tense jury selection kicked off recently, with Trump’s conspicuous presence in the courtroom—a presence not mandated but nonetheless symbolic of the legal storm that continues to swirl around the former president.
