Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) sparked widespread backlash after saying she’d give a guided tour of the U.S. Capitol to the people who were recently pardoned by Donald Trump for their role in the violent January 6th Capitol riot.

Many people on social media pointed out that the rioters, who were granted clemency by President Donald Trump in one of his first acts upon returning to the White House, probably don’t need a tour. After all, they were there just a few years ago — when they stormed the Capitol in 2021.

One tweet really took off, with someone simply saying, “Girl they already know their way around.” That one got over 5.3 million views.

“Apparently, Lauren Boebert (CO representative) has offered to give guided tours of the Capitol to the recently pardoned J6 “hostages”. Didn’t they already have a tour on J6 2021?,” another commenter wrote on Bluesky.

Denver news anchor Kyle Clark also had something to say about it. He read a viewer’s comment on 9News asking, “Didn’t those criminals already get a tour of the Capitol?” Clark shot back with, “I suppose they did, but it’s probably tough to really appreciate the architecture and history when you have to step over the body of the police officer you just assaulted.”

“The idiot Congresswoman Boebert plans to invite the newly released Jan 6 attackers to a tour of the Capitol. She will be very confused when they recount their last tour of that building,” one commenter chimed on Threads.

“The same people who pissed and shit inside the Capitol,” another user added.

FEEDBACK: A viewer questions Rep Lauren Boebert (R-CO) offering a Capitol tour to pardoned J6 rioters. But I can see why.

Lauren Boebert saying she will invite the insurrectionists for a personal tour of the Capitol. I’m telling you right now they are either going to receive a Congressional Medal of Honor or a Medal of Freedom. Mark my words.

This will be the Deluxe Tour. There will be auditorium seating and some lucky participant(s) will get to sit next to her!
Lottery drawing. Proceeds will help maintain the Boebert Family Legal Fund.
