Recent national polls show Vice President Kamala Harris leading former President Donald Trump by three points in surveys from Marist/NPR/PBS and SurveyUSA, and four points in Morning Consult’s poll. Marist’s poll has Harris at 51% to Trump’s 48%, with a similar lead when other candidates are included. SurveyUSA also reports a 48:45 split, while Morning Consult shows Harris at 48% and Trump at 44%.
Despite this national lead, battleground state polls paint a more complex picture. According to FiveThirtyEight averages, Trump is ahead by four points in Georgia and two points in Arizona. Harris holds narrow leads in Michigan (two points), Pennsylvania (one point), and Wisconsin (one and a half points).
Harris and and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz are hitting key battleground states today following a high-energy rally in Philadelphia last night.
The Democratic candidates made their first joint appearance on Tuesday at Temple University, addressing a crowd of 12,000. Harris highlighted Walz’s background in education, military service, and policy achievements. Walz countered with a vigorous critique of Trump and the GOP, calling out Trump and JD Vance as “weird as hell” and questioning their ties to Project 2025.
Meanwhile, Trump has criticized Walz as a “communist” in a recent Fox News interview, claiming Walz’s positions are out of step with American values.
The 2024 election is now just 90 days away, with the national lead for Harris contrasting with the tight race in key states.
