On Thursday, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is facing an avalanche of criticism after he decided it was good politics to throw a furious fit on the House Floor in response to the arrest of a man who 911 saying he wanted to kill Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh over recent mass shootings.
“How many times do they have to be threatened?” an angry McCarthy yelled, referring to conservative SCOTUS justices, some of whom have faced protests outside their homes over the leaked draft showing they have voted to strike down Roe v. Wade.
“How many people have to be arrested with a gun outside their home?” McCarthy continued. “What would have happened had he not called 911? “He didn’t just have a gun, he had zip ties.”
McCarthy, however, failed to say that Justices’ homes are being protected 24/7 by armed agents, as stated by Attorney General Merrick Garland.
His tirade was met with fierce criticism from internet users, who called out McCarthy’s hypocrisy on being angry about someone saying he wanted to kill Kavanaugh, while being silent on the murder of 19 children and opposing all forms of gun control legislation that would prevent another massacre.
“Listening to McCarthy yell at the top of his lungs about a threat to a justice that fortunately was foiled, I can’t help but compare it to his reaction to a school shooting that left 19 kids dead last month. He never yells like this about gun violence that kills American children,” Democratic Rep. Don Beyer, of Virginia, said.
Some were quick to suggest Supreme Court justices take the same defensive measures Republicans have been advocating for in the wake of the Uvalde, Texas school massacre: fewer doors, more guns and prayers.
Others blamed the Supreme Court itself, with one saying it has turned America into a “shooting gallery.”

With this logic, there is no reason why any Republican should be concerned about Kavanaugh's safety. It's not like he's a 12-year-old sitting duck in a middle school who is too young to buy his own gun.

Kavanaugh just needs a single point of entry and a strong ass door. He'll be fine. https://t.co/M3wi1cwuXi

Just tell him to pray harder and get a better door.

According to members of the Well-Regulated Militia™, Kavanaugh can simply acquire a firearm and provide his own security. I fail to understand why McCarthy is so bothered when the solution is this simple. https://t.co/iEzBuFAXCl

I wish they are this outraged over dead kids… but I guess I'm asking for too much. https://t.co/21y3OsvuwT

Republicans & their pet Supreme Court made America a shooting gallery. It takes a special kind of Republican idiot not to realize this affects both Democrats and Republicans. The Supreme Court protection bill should be a part of a larger gun control bill. https://t.co/SD8skPaLZO

Kevin McCarthy is angry because the man stalking a SCOTUS Justice not only had a gun, but had zip ties as well
I wonder what his reaction would’ve been if the guy also built a gallows, chanted “Hang Brett Kavanaugh” & tried to stop him from carrying out his Constitutional duties https://t.co/KLQeVoroci
