Justice Alito Cancels Scheduled Appearance In Louisiana After Roe v. Wade Ruling Leak

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito has canceled a scheduled appearance he was slated to make at a legal conference in Lousiana set to begin on Thursday, Reuters reports. The move came after Politico published a leaked draft opinion from the desk of the Supreme Court stating they had voted to overturn Roe v. Wade.

The publication of the draft has put the justices in the public spotlight, but none more than Justice Alito, the author of the controversial opinion. And so by Wednesday night, he decided to pull out of the speaking arrangement, Reuters reported, citing a source familiar with the matter.

“Alito had been set to appear at the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals’ judicial conference, a gathering of judges from the New Orleans-based federal appeals court and the district courts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. But he has since canceled,” the source told Reuters.

A spokesperson for the Supreme Court gave no reason for the cancellation.
