On Saturday, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) ignited controversy once again with derogatory remarks about women who cannot have biological children, following a newly surfaced 2021 podcast. In this previously unreleased video (see it below), Vance makes several disparaging comments about professional women, as well as attacking Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).
The podcast, uploaded to YouTube in September 2021, features Vance expressing his disdain for women who focus on their careers over starting families. He argued that women who don’t have children are driven by a misguided value system. “They have no real value system,” Vance said, suggesting that such women are merely pursuing racial or gender equity as a substitute for traditional values.
“I’ve fully developed views on this, but to me, what it is is is sort of a value system to replace the fact that they’re all fundamentally atheist or agnostic,” Vance said. “They have no real value system. Their only value system is achieve in a very conventional way. And so the idea that somehow they’re pursuing racial or gender equity is like the value system that gives their life meaning.”
According to Vance, this pursuit ultimately leads to unhappiness. “Of course, they all find that this value system leads to misery,” he claimed. Vance likened this to a failed medical treatment, implying that the more women cling to gender equity ideals, the more miserable they become.
He further criticized women who have passed their biological prime and are struggling with high living costs, saying, “I live in a 1200 square foot apartment in New York, I pay $5,000 a month for it, but I’m really better than these other people.”
Vance’s remarks extended to a broader critique of societal values, arguing that those who don’t share his perspective are contributing to societal breakdown.
This revelation raises new concerns about Vance’s role on the Republican ticket, which is currently lagging behind Kamala Harris in her bid for the presidency.
