Internet Responds To Trump Praising Mike Pence’s ‘Fantastic Job’ During Coronavirus Pandemic

On Tuesday, Vice President Mike Pence sparked widespread backlash after telling reporters that the White House is considering eliminating its coronavirus task force by Memorial Day. Now, Donald Trump is scrambling to put out the fire, announcing that the task force would remain in place “indefinitely” but that he may “add or subtract” officials to or from it.

The president also praised Pence for doing a “fantastic job” during the pandemic despite the fact that the U.S. has the highest coronavirus dead rate in the world.

“The White House CoronaVirus Task Force, headed by Vice President Mike Pence, has done a fantastic job of bringing together vast highly complex resources that have set a high standard for others to follow in the future,” Trump tweeted Wednesday morning.

“The last four Governors teleconference calls have been conclusively strong,” Trump continued. “Because of this success, the Task Force will continue on indefinitely with its focus on SAFETY & OPENING UP OUR COUNTRY AGAIN. We may add or subtract people to it, as appropriate.”

As expected, Twitter users were quick to set the record straight.
