Lara Trump, daughter-in-law of Donald Trump and co-chair of the Republican National Committee, is making headlines again, but not for her political work. This time, it’s for her music video for the song “Hero,” a tribute to firefighters. The track, initially released in May, was accompanied by a music video that premiered late last month.
The video features Trump and her co-singer Madeline Jaymes performing in a music studio and on a fire escape, interspersed with a montage of real and dramatized footage of firefighters in action. While the intention behind the video is to honor the brave work of firefighters, the response from viewers has been less than enthusiastic, particularly about Trump’s vocal performance.
On YouTube, the reaction was swift and critical. One top comment read, “Someone who cares about Lara needs to be honest and tell her she can’t sing,”
Another commenter humorously remarked, “After hearing this, I miss Yoko Ono.”
Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) users also voiced their opinions. One Instagram user criticized Trump as “the rich adult version” of “kids who got participation trophies,” while a commenter on X joked, “Guys, I’m starting to think Lara Trump has a ‘music career’ only because her last name is Trump.”
“I thought that video was an outtake from a botched audition with the American Idol,” another user wrote.
Trump, married to Eric Trump, has been dabbling in music for nearly a year. Her previous works include her infamous cover of Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down” and two original songs, “Hero” and “Anything is Possible.”
In addition to her music career, Trump has been active in politics, co-chairing the RNC with Michael Whatley, thanks in part to an endorsement from her father-in-law, Donald Trump. During her RNC acceptance speech, she committed to supporting her father-in-law’s re-election campaign with both financial and personal efforts.

I think it’s very generous of Republican donors to allow Lara Trump to use their political donations for her vanity projects.
