‘I Was Not Depressed’: Trump Rips Liz Cheney For Sharing ‘Keven’ McCarthy’s Claim He Was Not Eating After Jan 6

Staff Writer

Donald Trump on Monday issued a furious response to Liz Cheney’s revelations in her upcoming book, “Oath and Honor.” Using his Truth Social platform on Monday, the former president vehemently denied a claim made by Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) in Cheney’s book, where McCarthy allegedly visited Trump at Mar-a-Lago post-U.S. Capitol riot because he’d been told Trump wasn’t eating and was depressed.

According to the book, Cheney confronted McCarthy for hastily heading to Mar-a-Lago to meet with Donald Trump just three weeks after the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

“Mar-a-Lago? What the hell, Kevin?” Cheney asked, the book reads.

“They’re really worried,” McCarthy reportedly answered. “Trump’s not eating, so they asked me to come see him.” “What? You went to Mar-a-Lago because Trump’s not eating?” Cheney sought to clarify. “Yeah, he’s really depressed,” McCarthy concluded.

In his online tirade, Trump refuted McCarthy’s assertion that he was not eating due to depression, stating that he was actually angry and overindulging in food. He also labeled Cheney as “Crazy Liz Cheney” suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome” and accused her of collaborating to erase evidence and findings of the J6 Committee.

“That statement is not true,” said Trump. “I was not depressed, I WAS ANGRY, and it was not that I was not eating, it was that I was eating too much. But that’s not why Keven (sic) McCarthy was there. He was at Mar-a-Lago to get my support, and to bring the Republican Party together – Only good intentions.”

He added: “Liz Cheney, on the other hand, went on to lose her seat in Congress by the largest margin for a sitting Congressperson in the history of the U.S. She then worked with others on the J6 Committee to delete and destroy the evidence and findings of the committee.”
