Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a swift rebuttal to former President Donald Trump’s recent comments regarding Robert F. Kennedy Jr. On Thursday, Trump announced at a rally in Nevada that he would appoint Kennedy to oversee “health and women’s health” if he wins the presidency again.
Harris responded with a simple but emphatic “No,” shared on her personal X account, accompanied by a red heart emoji. Trump’s remarks implied that Kennedy would play a significant role in addressing health issues in the United States.
During his rally, Trump stated, “He’s going to work on health and women’s health… because we’re not really a wealthy—or a healthy country.”
Kennedy, who previously ran as an independent candidate before endorsing Trump in August, claimed earlier this week that Trump promised him “control” over various health agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
In his comments, Kennedy highlighted his vision for public health, stating, “President Trump has promised me… control of the public health agencies, which are HHS and its sub-agencies, CDC, FDA, NIH… Because we’ve got to get off of seed oils, and we’ve got to get off of pesticide-intensive agriculture.”
Kennedy, 70, has faced harsh criticism for his controversial views, including advocating for restricting abortion access at “fetal viability” and opposing COVID-19 vaccinations. His organization, Children’s Health Defense, has been involved in spreading misinformation about vaccine safety and has falsely linked vaccinations to autism.
Additionally, Kennedy’s claims about Dr. Anthony Fauci and vaccine misinformation led to Meta deactivating his Instagram account in 2021. His promotion of unfounded conspiracy theories regarding COVID-19 has sparked backlash, including a statement from the Anti-Defamation League condemning his remarks as offensive and promoting harmful stereotypes.
