Former New York mayor and Trump personal attorney Rudy Giuliani is firing back at claims that he was drunk on election night 2020, claiming on Twitter that he had refused all alcohol and chose instead his favorite soda: “diet Pepsi.”

“I am disgusted and outraged at the out right lie by Jason Miller and Bill Steppien. I was upset that they were not prepared for the massive cheating (as well as other lawyers around the President) I REFUSED all alcohol that evening. My favorite drink..Diet Pepsi,” the former mayor wrote Tuesday morning.

Giuliani was responding to GOP Rep. Liz Cheney (WY) after she said during the January 6 hearing that he was drunk on election night in 2020 as he pushed for Donald Trump to declare victory as votes were still being counted.

Cheney said during the hearing that Trump “rejected the advice of his campaign experts on election night and instead followed the course recommended by an apparently inebriated Rudy Giuliani, to just claim he won, and demand the vote count be stopped.

While Giuliani claimed that he was drinking “diet Pepsi”, his “official media office” said the former mayor was “drinking diet coke all night.”

Naturally, Twitter users wasted no time responding, and mockery ensued.
