Fred Piccolo, the former communications director for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, has been arrested once again for indecent exposure. The 47-year-old was charged on Tuesday with “exposure of sexual organs,” a third-degree felony under Florida law.
Piccolo previously served as DeSantis’ spokesman in 2020 but resigned in December of that year after suggesting on Twitter that the media had inflated the danger of COVID-19. After stepping down, he took a job as marketing director at the “anti-woke” New College of Florida in Sarasota. However, following his latest arrest, a spokeswoman for the college confirmed that Piccolo was fired the day after his arrest.
This arrest marks the fourth time Piccolo has been accused of indecent exposure. He’s already facing charges from three other incidents last summer, where he allegedly exposed himself to employees at Banana Republic and Dillard’s in Sarasota’s Mall at University Town Center. These incidents occurred over a span of 12 days.
Piccolo’s lawyer, Eric Reisinger, stated that Piccolo was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s disease about a decade ago. He suggested that the medication Piccolo takes may be causing “behavior inconsistent with his established character.”
Piccolo’s legal troubles continue, with the former DeSantis spokesman now facing serious charges once again.
