On Sunday, six migrant workers were wounded in what seemed to be a deliberate hit-and-run incident in Lincolnton, North Carolina, authorities said.

According to the Lincolnton Police Department, the migrants were struck by a black SUV in front of a Walmart at approximately 1:17 p.m. that day. Fortunately, none of the injuries sustained by the workers were life-threatening, and they were promptly taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle, an older white male, remained unidentified, and the police were still investigating the motive behind the incident.

Linconton, which is located roughly 35 miles northwest of Charlotte, is home to about 11,000 people. Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the vehicle and driver in question.
