Karoline Leavitt wanted to take a shot at Democrats.
Instead, she appeared to take a 360-degree turn — and social media was ready with the math lesson.
The former White House press secretary went after Democratic candidates during an appearance with Sean Hannity, arguing that politicians such as Texas Senate candidate James Talarico campaign as moderates before supposedly governing as far-left liberals.
“They campaign as moderates,” Leavitt said. “They do 360s on every single policy position they have to try to appeal to common-sense, good-hearted Americans.”
Then, she said, they get elected and “govern as complete radical extreme liberal lunatics.”
There was just one problem.
A 360-degree turn brings you right back to where you started.
So if someone campaigns as a moderate and then does a 360 on their policy positions, they would — mathematically speaking — still be a moderate.
And social media users immediately noticed.
One critic offered Leavitt a particularly blunt assessment, writing: “A 360 brings you back to the same position. This woman is a damn idiot.”
Another user wondered whether Leavitt had ever taken geometry.
“Because, if you like a politician’s policies, and they do 360s on ’em, well . . . guess what?” the user wrote. “That means they’ve remained CONSISTENT with those policies you like!”
Then came the inevitable question:
“Does she know what 360 means?”
A self-described former math teacher apparently couldn’t believe what they were watching.
“Former math teacher here,” the user wrote.
“Oh my god.”
And just like that, Leavitt’s attack on Democrats had turned into an impromptu geometry lesson:
