Apple Music has removed Kanye West’s Essentials Playlist from their app as the backlash continues over the rapper’s anti-semitic rhetoric.
The move, first reported by Billboard, comes as the rapper, who goes by the name Ye now, was dropped by both Adidas and Balenciaga over his “hateful and dangerous” comments on social media. It also comes after Skechers escorted him out of their building when he showed up unannounced at their headquarters.
Meanwhile, the rapper’s school, “Donda Academy,” announced it is closing with immediate effect.
Donda Academy principal Jason Angell emailed parents on Wednesday saying “THERE IS NO SCHOOL TOMORROW”, adding “at the discretion of our Founder, Donda Academy will close for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year effective immediately”, according to The Times.
West is also facing harsh criticism from fellow celebrities who have condemned his behavior.
