An American Airlines flight erupted into chaos after a female passenger was thrown to the floor by a flight attendant who believed she was trying to get into the cockpit.
The outburst happened on April 24 aboard Flight AA950 from São Paulo to New York. Tensions flared before takeoff when a woman, upset about delays, approached the cockpit to confront a pilot. That move set off a violent response from crew members.
Video of the incident shows the woman being shoved down the business-class aisle while shouting. At one point, she yelled: “Aren’t you ashamed? I’ll kick you in the balls.” A flight attendant responded by threatening, “I’ll kick you in the balls.”
Passengers looked on as the woman continued to scream while being forced back to her seat. She hurled more insults at the crew, some homophobic.
“You son of a bitch – disgusting – you can’t touch me. You don’t know who you’re talking to – you’re going to get screwed,” she shouted. “I went to ask why I was late and this f***** threw me out.”
Another male passenger got involved, shouting at the woman before crew members tried to calm him down as well. Both were later removed from the flight.
The airline said the plane had to return to the gate due to what it called a “security issue.” The delay caused the flight to depart two hours and 25 minutes late, according to aviation news site Aeroin.
American Airlines confirmed the disruption in a statement: “On Thursday, April 24, American Airlines flight 950, en route from São Paulo (GRU) to New York (JFK), returned to the gate before departure due to a security issue on board. The safety and security of our customers and team members is our top priority and we appreciate our customers’ understanding.”
