Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) ripped into Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem over her recent trip to Israel, calling it nothing more than a staged photo shoot.
“You just had a good photo op. And I think that that’s probably all Kristi Noem is good for, is a photo op,” Crockett said bluntly Sunday on MSNBC’s “Weekends with Alex Witt.”
The trip came days after two Israeli Embassy staffers — 26-year-old Sarah Lynn Milgrim and 30-year-old Yaron Lischinsky — were gunned down outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. Witnesses say the shooter shouted “free Palestine” during the attack.
Noem claimed she went to Israel at the request of President Donald Trump. “Following the horrific terrorist attack in Washington DC killing two Israeli diplomats, @POTUS Trump asked me to visit Israel and meet with Prime Minister [Benjamin Netanyahu],” Noem posted Monday on X, alongside footage of her at Jerusalem’s Western Wall. “Hate will not have the last word.”
But Crockett wasn’t buying it. She made it clear she saw no real purpose in the visit besides a media moment. “I didn’t see anything come out of it that was actually meaningful,” she added.
Noem’s critics have long accused her of using law enforcement and foreign affairs as backdrops. She’s been slammed for donning ICE gear and a bulletproof vest in photo ops along the southern border. During a visit to El Salvador, she gave a speech in front of prisoners at the infamous CECOT megaprison — another moment many saw as pure spectacle.
To Crockett, the Israel trip was just more of the same. Watch the interview below:
