Accused Capitol rioter Josiah Kenyon on Thursday bragged about having a “high IQ” before asking a federal judge for a green light to fight prison guards.
The bizarre request came after Kenyon asked U.S. District Judge Carl J. Nichols for permission to speak during a status conference hearing.
Nichols warned that Kenyon might want to consult with his attorney first. That’s when things got weird.
“I have a high enough IQ range to not screw up there, boss,” Kenyon shot back. He then asked the judge to “acknowledge that he had a right to defend himself if prison guards in DC tried to assault him.”
“I’m not making any finding one way or another about that,” Nichols replied, according to a Twitter post by Politico’s reporter Kyle Cheney.
“Okey-doke,” Kenyon replied.
At the end of the status conference, Nichols asks Kenyon if he has anything else to raise.
“My wife and children homeless on the street. Have a wonderful day.”
