Donald Trump’s Virginia golf club is making headlines again, and this time it’s not because of the golf.

The restaurant at Trump National Golf Club Washington, D.C. has been cited for a string of health code violations after inspectors reported swarms of flies, food stored at unsafe temperatures, and other sanitation problems during a June 30 inspection.

According to an inspection report obtained by NOTUS, health officials from Loudoun County found “a large quantity of small flies” buzzing around a storage room near employee restrooms.

Inspectors also found pest-control products being used and stored that were not approved for use in a food establishment, raising additional concerns about how the facility was being maintained.

The violations didn’t stop there. Inspectors also discovered several food items, including blue cheese, sausage links, and sausage patties, being stored well above the required safe temperature of 41 degrees Fahrenheit or below. The blue cheese measured 54 degrees, while the sausage products were found at 49 and 51 degrees.

According to the report, the manager on duty voluntarily threw the food away after inspectors flagged the problem.

The club’s outdoor pizza operation was also cited for lacking adequate handwashing and dishwashing facilities.

Despite the findings, Trump’s golf club dismissed the inspection outright.

“We operate our properties to the highest health and safety standards,” the club said in a statement to NOTUS. “These so-called ‘violations’ are fabricated, politically motivated and completely without merit.”

The club offered no explanation for the reported flies, improperly stored food, or other violations documented by county inspectors.

The inspection came just days before Trump spent part of last weekend golfing at the Virginia property.

It’s also not the first time one of Trump’s golf clubs has run into health inspectors.

Earlier this year, officials inspecting Trump National Golf Club Westchester in New York reported multiple violations, including evidence of insects and rodents. That club also dismissed the findings as politically motivated.

The repeated inspections are an awkward look for properties that market themselves as luxury destinations while charging hefty membership fees.
