‘Zero media attention!!!’: Trump throws a fit after media focuses on Mamdani instead of him

Donald Trump is furious that the media won’t stop talking about Zohran Mamdani.

The president took to Truth Social on Wednesday to complain that the press has showered New York City’s Democratic mayoral nominee with attention while supposedly ignoring Trump’s own political accomplishments.

And judging by the outrage, this one appears to have hit a nerve.

“Mayor Mamdani pulled through 3 solid Communists, and has received loud and universal applause from the Fake News Media,” Trump wrote. “I went 16-0 last night, helping to elect wonderful American Patriots, and the Media doesn’t say a word.”

The complaint comes as Mamdani continues to dominate headlines following his stunning political rise, which has rattled Republicans and establishment Democrats alike. Rather than focusing on why Mamdani’s message appears to be resonating with voters, Trump’s response was essentially to demand equal attention for himself.

The result was a social media post that read less like a triumphant celebration and more like a man staring at someone else’s spotlight and wondering why it isn’t pointed at him.

Trump went on to boast that his endorsements have produced 259 primary victories over the past two years with “almost no losses.”

“Zero media attention!!!” he added.

The irony is hard to miss. The President of the United States—arguably the most covered political figure on the planet—is complaining that he isn’t receiving enough media coverage.

Not that the media is covering him negatively. Not that the media is being unfair. Simply that the media is talking about someone else.

That’s what appears to be driving the frustration.

The post also highlights a recurring pattern in Trump’s political worldview: success only counts if it comes with applause. Winning elections isn’t enough. Dominating one of the world’s largest media ecosystems isn’t enough. Being president isn’t enough.

Someone else receiving attention becomes evidence of unfair treatment.

And so a news cycle focused on a rising Democratic star quickly became another grievance session about Trump himself.

Apparently, the real scandal isn’t that Mamdani is making headlines.

It’s that Trump isn’t the one making all of them.
