Desperate Trump Touts ‘Very Good Call’ With Terrorist Group Hezbollah As His Middle East Mess Worsens

President Donald Trump raised eyebrows Monday after publicly boasting about having a “very good call” with Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group designated by the United States as a terrorist organization.

The stunning claim came as Trump struggles to revive stalled negotiations with Iran amid escalating tensions across the Middle East.

According to Iranian state media, Tehran suspended talks with the United States following Israeli military strikes in Lebanon, throwing Trump’s diplomatic efforts into further uncertainty.

Trump, who helped trigger the current crisis by striking Iran, is now claiming credit for preventing the very escalation his actions helped set in motion.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed he spoke directly with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and persuaded Israel to back away from a potential escalation.

“I had a very productive call with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, of Israel, and there will be no Troops going to Beirut, and any Troops that are on their way, have already been turned back,” Trump wrote.

Trump then made an even more extraordinary claim, saying he had also communicated with Hezbollah through intermediaries.

“Likewise, through highly placed Representatives, I had a very good call with Hezbollah, and they agreed that all shooting will stop—That Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel,” Trump wrote.

The comments immediately drew attention given Hezbollah’s status as a U.S.-designated terrorist organization and Trump’s long history of presenting himself as a hardline opponent of groups linked to Iran.

Whether Trump’s account accurately reflects the situation on the ground remains unclear. Neither Hezbollah nor Israeli officials immediately confirmed Trump’s description of the conversations.

The remarks come as Trump faces mounting pressure to demonstrate progress on Iran after diplomatic efforts appeared to stall and regional tensions threatened to spiral into a broader conflict.
