At least nine Indiana Republican lawmakers have been targeted with threats and swatting incidents in the wake of President Donald Trump’s push to redraw the state’s congressional districts ahead of the 2026 midterms.
Indiana State Senator Andy Zay confirmed to FOX59 that he received a bomb threat on Thursday, a chilling reminder of how politically charged tensions are escalating in the state.
The threats didn’t stop there. The Columbus Police Department reported that a shooting was falsely reported at the home of State Senator Greg Walker (R) on Friday. Meanwhile, Fox 59 reported that the Indiana State Police were investigating swatting incidents aimed at seven other Republican lawmakers.
State Senator Kyle Walker (R) revealed he faced violent threats at his home, and State Senator Greg Goode (R) also became a target after Trump singled him out on his Truth Social platform.
“I want to be clear: I strongly condemn these acts, which have no place in our political process,” Zay said in a statement. “While the intent behind these intimidation threats seems to be to instill fear in public officials, I can assure my constituents that I remain committed to serving our district, being your voice, and continuing my work at the Statehouse.”
The FBI is now involved. Special Agent in Charge Timothy O’Malley warned, “whoever’s responsible for this is going to be very sorry.”
This wave of intimidation highlights a growing pattern of political targeting, where lawmakers opposing a partisan redistricting plan are facing real-world threats. It’s a stark illustration of how political disputes can turn violent, leaving public servants under siege in their own homes.
