Back in 2019, Donald Trump turned heads when he dramatically declared himself “the chosen one.” Now, those grandiose words clash sharply with a much more anxious tone.
In a surprising moment during a Fox & Friends interview, President Donald Trump admitted he’s worried about his chances of getting into heaven — and says he’s been told he’s “really at the bottom of the totem pole.”
The comments came Tuesday as Trump discussed his efforts to broker peace between Russia and Ukraine. Just a day earlier, he had hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and top European leaders at the White House. That meeting followed his recent high-profile sit-down with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Trump framed his foreign policy efforts not just as political moves, but as personal ones — tied directly to his spiritual future.
“I want to try and get to heaven if possible,” Trump said. “I’m hearing I’m not doing well. I hear I’m really at the bottom of the totem pole.”
He added, “If I can save 7,000 people a week from being killed… this will be one of the reasons.”
Trump defended his approach to Ukraine and Russia, saying he’s focused on ending the war to avoid American casualties and reduce global suffering.
“If I can save 7,000 people a week from being killed,” he repeated, “I think that’s a pretty– I want to try and get to heaven if possible.”
He also pointed to past foreign policy moves as evidence he’s already made a difference.
“Well, I think I saved a lot of lives with India, Pakistan,” Trump said. “They were going at it. There were– the planes were being shot down. That was going to be maybe a nuclear war if I let that go.”
Trump’s comments pulled back the curtain on a side rarely seen — a man once known for extreme narcissism and bluster, now publicly acknowledging fear that he may not be on the right path.
