Steve Bannon, a longtime ally of Donald Trump, exploded with anger on his “War Room” show Thursday night after a federal judge ruled that Trump must preserve all records tied to the growing “Signalgate” scandal.

Bannon sees this ruling as a major warning sign for Republicans. He believes if Democrats regain power in the next couple of years, Trump’s luck of avoiding prison will run out. Bannon urged Republicans to take action now, suggesting they strip the federal judiciary of its independence before it’s too late.

“We’re going to go through a war now in the House and the Senate,” Bannon told right-wing host Eric Bolling. “Speaker Mike Johnson should have a hearing on Monday, start pushing these judges out, maybe even lead to impeachment. This is already out of control… Trump’s trial on being commander-in-chief, and then the judge immediately orders the documents.”

Bannon also attacked Judge Juan Merchan, the judge behind Trump’s felony conviction for falsifying business records, and echoed far-right conspiracy theories about Merchan’s daughter. According to Bannon, the right needs to put pressure on judges like Merchan to stop what he sees as a political attack on Trump.

“We’re kidding ourselves if we think Democrats aren’t doing everything they can to stop Trump. They’re going to impeach him, maybe starting in 2027,” Bannon warned. “If we lose in ’28, Trump will end up in prison, just like Bolsonaro in Brazil.”

Bannon continued, “People are still stuck in the glow of November 4th and the inauguration. We’re at war. If you don’t get that by now, you’re not paying attention to what’s been happening in the last 72 hours.”
