Elon Musk’s latest call for more “positive, beautiful, or informative” content on X (formerly Twitter) has blown up in his face. The billionaire’s request, posted on Sunday, was met with a flood of criticism, with many accusing him of hypocrisy.

Musk, who’s made a habit of insulting critics and spouting expletives on his own platform, told his 209 million followers, “Please post a bit more positive, beautiful or informative content on this platform.” But instead of a wave of good vibes, the response was quick and brutal. Critics pointed out that Musk has turned X into a haven for negativity, from welcoming back far-right extremists to constantly lobbing insults at anyone who crosses him.

The hypocrisy was glaring. Musk has endorsed the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD), a party linked to neo-Nazis, and regularly uses X to attack people, including telling one critic to “f*** yourself in the face.”

One user bluntly responded, “You created this cesspool. You own it. F*cking hypocrite.”

Others reminded Musk that positive content gets drowned out by rage-baiting, trolling, and algorithm-driven drama. “Maybe change the algorithm first?” one user suggested. The platform rewards anger and outrage, not kindness.

Even his rival Mark Cuban chimed in with a sarcastic “You first.” Musk’s tone-deaf request comes after he used the platform to mock serious political issues and push divisive rhetoric. He’s done little to clean up the mess he created, instead letting toxic posts thrive.

For many, Musk’s call for more positivity is laughable. “Look in the mirror, Elon,” one user snapped. Until he leads by example, his plea for a friendlier X will remain a joke.
