In an interview with ABC News, former President Trump acknowledged the possibility of losing the upcoming presidential election to Vice President Harris, while suggesting that “bad things could happen” if he were to lose.
Speaking with ABC News chief Washington correspondent Jonathan Karl, Trump expressed a mix of confidence and caution.
“Yeah, I guess you could lose,” Trump stated when asked about the election’s outcome. He added, “But I think I have a pretty substantial lead. But, you could say — yeah, yeah, you could lose. Bad things could happen. You know, things happen, but it’s going to be interesting.”
Despite suggesting he has a significant lead, his comments hinted at the unpredictable nature of the race. It remains unclear exactly what he meant by his warning about potential negative consequences.
Polls indicate that the contest between Trump and Harris is shaping up to be one of the closest in American history. In key swing states, the candidates are separated by only a few percentage points, and neither campaign has managed to establish a clear advantage.
According to the latest national polling average, Trump and Harris are tied at 48.3 percent each.
Throughout the campaign, Trump has often implied that his chances of losing would stem from fraud or unfair practices, which may relate to his warning about “bad things” potentially happening.
