The group used Musk’s substantial financial backing to launch aggressive advertising campaigns targeting Democrats in key battleground states ahead of the midterm elections, according to The Wall Street Journal. This strategic funding highlights Musk’s role in shaping political narratives against the Democratic Party.
In a further show of support for Republican politics, Musk contributed $10 million to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s presidential campaign in 2023, with more than half of that amount funneled to the pro-DeSantis super PAC, Never Back Down. This involvement underscores Musk’s deepening ties to right-wing political efforts.
Additionally, Musk began channeling millions to Building America’s Future in 2022, another Republican organization that experienced a remarkable revenue increase from $11 million in 2021 to $53 million in 2022, as reported by Reuters. The specific amount Musk contributed remains undisclosed, as these donations were funneled through 501(c)(4) “dark money” groups, which do not require disclosure of their funding sources.
