Former President Donald Trump has drawn widespread ridicule for his fear-mongering tactics in reaction to a recent dip in the Dow Jones Industrial Average. Capitalizing on the market’s downturn, Trump has issued a barrage of alarming social media posts, ominously predicting that electing Kamala Harris as president could trigger what he ominously describes as the “Great Depression of 2024.”
In one unhinged post, Trump declared, “Of course there is a massive market downturn. Kamala is even worse than Crooked Joe. Markets will NEVER accept the Radical Left Lunatic that DESTROYED San Francisco and California, as a whole. Next move, THE GREAT DEPRESSION OF 2024! You can’t play games with MARKETS. KAMALA CRASH!!!”
He continued with a post that echoed similar themes: “VOTERS HAVE A CHOICE — TRUMP PROSPERITY, OR THE KAMALA CRASH & GREAT DEPRESSION OF 2024, NOT TO MENTION THE PROBABILITY OF WORLD WAR III IF THESE VERY STUPID PEOPLE REMAIN IN OFFICE. REMEMBER, TRUMP WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING!!!”
Trump’s frantic tone did not end there. In rapid succession, he posted: “Trump KAMALA CRASH!” and “TRUMP CASH vs. KAMALA CRASH!”
Social media users quickly reacted to Trump’s panicked outbursts. Many took to platforms like X (formerly Twitter) to express their skepticism and mockery quickly ensued.
Ron Filipkowski, a prominent commentator, observed, “All [Republicans] have to sell is fear, panic, resentment, strife, unhappiness and division. It’s their brand.”
One X user suggested that Trump’s posts were a reaction to polling trends: “The polls are getting to his head.”
Another critic dismissed Trump’s financial warnings, stating, “The last person you need to take advice from is a scam artist.”
A further comment derided Trump’s credibility given his legal troubles: “From a guy that had his property seized by the DOJ, you’re the last person I’d take financial advice from.”
Captain America, a notable commentator, added, “So far Trump’s greatest accomplishment has been to somehow stay out of jail.”
Other users pointed out Trump’s own record on the economy, contrasting it with his current claims. One noted, “The current DOW is still over 38k. Trump’s highest was under 32K. No wonder Trump is suffering with a great depression.”
