MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski were left dumbfounded by Donald Trump’s latest tirade, which descended into such nonsensical rambling that even Fox News abruptly halted its live coverage of the event.
The presumptive Republican nominee unleashed a diatribe at Temple University in Philadelphia, where he veered from bizarre accusations about “Joe Biden’s wave of bedlam and death and terror” to obsessing over mundane topics like shampoo lather and water pressure—prompting Fox News to pull the plug on the broadcast.
“They had to cut away from the washing machine bit,” chuckled Scarborough.
“What do you talk about with that?” Brzezinski added incredulously. “What’s the analysis of drip, drip, drip? Green hair? Fox News cut away from Donald Trump’s speech rally in Philadelphia on Saturday as he droned on about low water pressures in homes, washing his hair, how he likes a lot of lather. Imagine if Joe Biden did this, by the way. It would be 24-hour coverage of Joe Biden losing it. This, they go to break.”
Scarborough criticized Trump’s team for now attempting to backtrack on their strategy of attacking Biden’s coherence.
“You can read until the papers this weekend and this morning that the Trump people have belatedly figured out that lying about Joe Biden’s incoherence and doctoring tapes to suggest he is not was a bad idea,” the Morning Joe host said.
“Now they are trying to, like, reverse track and say, ‘Oh, no, he is a debater and maybe he is going to take drugs and he should be drug tested because he is going to end up doing so well.’ I’m not going to do that here. Donald Trump, when you look at any of his speeches front-to-back, looks like he is off his rocker,” he added. “It’s crazy the things he says, it’s crazy what people stand there and applaud for. Here, they just look thoroughly confused and Fox News had to cut away because they are like, ‘I got nothing here, I got nothing.'”
National affairs analyst John Heilemann referenced Trump’s recent bizarre remarks about electric boat batteries and shark attacks.
“When Fox News thinks there is too much lather going on with Donald Trump and they are, like, too much lather, he likes to lather, a lot of lather,” Heilemann remarked. “That is how you know that he has jumped – you mentioned sharks there, I think I heard you. I don’t think he talked about sharks in this event, but he has metaphorically jumped the shark.”
